this is the journey

this is the journey. after days of planning, failed attempts to convince everyone to turn up, and routes marked visually on maps, this was it. five of us got down to executing the plan. shujun, elsa, ian and richard picked me up at the marine parade cc busstop after i rushed down from church in the rain after some theme talk conducted during wesley camp. thank God for the umbrella that the security guards at brmc offered. :) thank God again that when i finally found my way to meet the rest, after missing the last 196 for the day, it wasn't raining anymore. we cycled to east coast park, and all the way to the end, where naturally being ambitious, we decided to probe on to kallang, then the esplanade, followed by orchard. in 4 hours' time, we were at taka, the x-box station, where elsa and richard battled it out, while the rest of us took a break and replenished our supplies at the 7-eleven. it was all stop, rest, cycle, "careful of the drain!", "don't cycle on the road", "i think we should walk now, cos the road's a little too narrow", "where are we now?" on our quest to conquer orchard, but after we got there, it was pretty smooth sailing all the way back to east coast park, with hardly any rest. we tried to catch the sunrise at bedok jetty, which was quite a distance at the other end of east coast park, but the clouds were just there to disappoint us. in the end, we settled for some sighting of fishes and jellyfishes in the murky sea, taking a group photo to mark the end of our journey before dishing out whatever snacks we had left at some empty spot as our breakfast while playing a new version of asshole daidee. cool. i learnt an enhanced version of the game. everyone's ass was hurting from the 7 hour ride, and we were so tired, that we could only drag our bikes to the bike shop to return. tired. tired. tired. that was the journey of 5 people, where in fact, it should have been that of 25 people. where did the rest go, i wonder.
